Turned it on for the first time, poured in the base, and the dasher stopped spinning. The small gear on the motor snapped into pieces. This wasn’t a case of of the dasher freezing, it spun fine by hand.

Right out of the package, the motor was burnt out and just sparked and smelled like burning plastic. Never did get to try making ice cream with it since it’s a gift and in order to get the warranty coverage you have to pay to ship it there and back (which is more than the cost of a cheap ice cream maker).
