Creating either 1 or 2 quarts of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 20 minutes with this Cuisinart machine, and because it features two separate 1-quart chilling chambers, it can make two flavors at once. Salt, ice, and effort are not needed. Place the machine’s chilling chambers in a freezer for about eight hours to thoroughly freeze the liquid between the walls. Then position one or both of the chambers atop the power base, insert the plastic paddles in the chambers, lock the transparent tops in place, and turn on the machine. (A switch activates one or two paddles as desired.) Add the ingredients in the chambers through openings in the top as the paddles turn. The chambers chill the ingredients to whatever consistency is desired, though dense treats are hard to make because the paddles churn in air.
